Ghana To Miss World Cup Qualifier?

Black Stars' Fred Osam Duodu has threatened to miss the qualifier with Lone Star of Liberia if two local teams don't release their players.

The coach told reporters that since Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko provide the bulk of the local based players, their absence would affect the performance of the team.

He said that even though the chances of the Stars look quite bleak, it's position on the table at the end of the qualifying matches would determine the team's classification by FIFA.

Hearts and Kotoko are due to participate in a four-team special championship including Kaiser Chiefs and Orlando Pirates, both of South Africa, to raise funds for the families of those who lost their lives in both the Accra Sports Stadium disaster, and the Johannesburg's huge Ellis Park tragedy in South Africa.

Players called up by Osam Duodu from Hearts of Oak are James Nanor and Sammy Adjei, both goalkeepers, Amankwah Mireku, Joe Ansah, Charles Taylor, Adjah Tetteh and Jacob Nettey.

From Asante Kotoko, Osei Boateng a goalkeeper, Lawrence Adjei, Godfred Yeboah, Isaac Owusu, Godwin Ablordey and Nana Frimpong were all invited.
