The Ghana Weightlifting Federation of Ghana on Friday 5th February officially launched the federation’s National Youth development program in partnership with Multipro ltd, makers of Indomie noodles at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The event which graced by the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports (MOYS), Hon. Vincent Oppong Asamoah as the special guest is focusing on unearthing young talents in weightlifting as the sport gathers pace with athletics and football.
Speaking at the program, the Hon. Oppong Asamoah emphasized how happy he was to be part of such a memorable course and also took the opportunity to call on corporate Ghana to imitate noodle makers, Indomie for their overall support towards youth involvement in the growth of sports across various disciplines.
Country director of Multipro Private Ltd. (Indomie) presented an amount an amount of Ghc20,0000 (Twenty thousand Ghana cedis) and Ghc10,ooo worth of Indomie products to the federation’s president, Mr. Ben Nunoo Mensah who received the cash and products on behalf of the sport discipline.
Mr. Nunoo Mensah after the presentation outlined the schedule of the youth development program for the year stating, “the school activation program has being put in place in order to measure the development of the sport will run till the end of the year.”
He added, “with the school activation program the Federation will once in every month go to the various cluster of schools to teach the sport through demonstration to enable the youth engage and participate in the sport of weightlifting.
