Ghana midfielder Andre Ayew believes Uganda remain a major threat in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers as the Black Stars visit the Cranes over the weekend.

The two countries shared the spoils 1-1 in Kumasi last September and the stand-in captain for Ghana has lauded the qualities of Uganda, insisting they cannot be underrated.

“Uganda is a good side despite their recent results in the qualifiers but I believe a lot in my [Ghana] team, a victory against them will qualify us to the next Afcon so we will fight for a win,” Ayew told Goal Ghana.

“They came to Kumasi to get a point therefore you cannot underrate them, they have some good players and a solid team so we know the threat they possess, but we're determined for victory.”

Uganda nearly stunned the four-time African champions in Kumasi in the opening game of Group E after a Tony Mawejje's first half goal, but a second half penalty from Ayew saved the west Africans blushes.
