Ghana coach Appiah in Liverpool camp

Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah arrived in England on Saturday morning on a visit of English Premier League side Liverpool as part of an ideas-sharing tour.

Appiah arrived with Black Stars goalkeepers’ coach Nassam Yakubu to observe Liverpool’s preparations for matches.

In addition, the Black stars coach will spend time with the League Managers Association at St. George’s Park, the national training centre for England. The trip is designed to help Ghana’s preparations for the World Cup.

The delegation, which also includes Appiah’s assistant Maxwell Konadu, Yakubu, team doctor Adam Baba, and analyst Michael Okyere, will leave Accra on 21 March and return 10 days later.

“This is a great opportunity for our technical team to visit Liverpool, one of the best clubs in the world, to observe how they prepare their team towards matches,” Ghana Football Association President Kwesi Nyantakyi said.

“This will positively impact on the Black Stars and will go a long way in helping the team bring glory to the country.”

It is not the first time that Appiah has visited England to pick up coaching tips, he has visited Manchester City on several occasions.

Ghana have been drawn in Group G at June’s World Cup in Brazil alongside Germany, Portugal and United States.
