Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah has urged the Harambee Stars of Kenya to desist from relying upon keys players and build a formidable team ahead Saturday's 2019 AFCON qualifier.

The Ghana gaffer says the loss of Victor Wanyama and some other key players should not weaken the Eastern African side ahead of their crunch clash.

Vice-captain David Owino, striker Jesse Were are also out injured, while defender Brian Mandela and winger Ayub Timbe are suspended.

The 58-year-old trainer believes that unknown players, given chance, can be a threat than the regular stars.

“I know him (Wanyama) but for someone you don’t know can give you some headache, personally and you the media guys, we should move away from this perspective of sticking to one team for years because the more you stick to it the more you destroy the next eight or ten years,” he told journalists on Friday before their final training session at the match venue.

He added: “It’s important to bring new young players, give them opportunities rather than having one stronger team for years, that way, how will you be able to manage young upcoming players? You should give the coach room to bring in some new blood,” offered Appiah.
