Ghanaian defender Denis Odoi, who plays for Royal Antwerp in the Belgium Jupiler Pro League, was sent off in a narrow defeat for his team.

Odoi faced his former club and had a tough game, receiving a red card at the Jan Breydelstadion.

The Black Stars defender was shown two yellow cards, leading to his ejection on Sunday afternoon. He received his first booking in the 21st minute and his second three minutes before the end of the match.

The first half ended in a goalless draw, with both teams struggling to score.

Club Brugge eventually secured the win with an 81st-minute penalty converted by Gustaf Nilsson.

The 36-year-old defender has played in all four games for Royal Antwerp this season but will miss the next match due to his red card.

Odoi joined Royal Antwerp this summer after leaving Club Brugge at the end of last season. His contract runs until the summer of 2026.

Meanwhile, GhanaWeb is set to premiere a documentary on playwright Uncle Ebo Whyte on Monday, August 19, 2024. Watch the trailer below:
