Ghana defender Kingsley Schindler was on target on Saturday, helping Samsunspor secure a thrilling 4-3 victory over Göztepe in a pulsating Turkish Super Lig clash at Samsun Yeni 19 Mayıs Stadyumu.
The match, part of Round 7, was a rollercoaster of emotions, with both teams exchanging the lead multiple times.
The game started poorly for Samsunspor as Zeki Yavru’s own goal in the 13th minute gave Göztepe an early advantage.
Marius Mouandilmadji equalised in the 28th minute, but Romulo Cruz restored Göztepe's lead just before halftime, making it 2-1.
Juan extended Göztepe's lead to 3-1 in the 50th minute.
However, Samsunspor mounted a stunning comeback in the second half. Olivier Ntcham reduced the deficit in the 70th minute with a goal assisted by Marc Bola.
Kingsley Schindler then levelled the score at 3-3 in the 79th minute, converting a cross from Yavru.
The decisive moment came in stoppage time, when Ntcham netted his second of the match, sealing the 4-3 win.
Samsunspor will next face Adana Demirspor on October 6, a match the right-back is expected to play a key role.
Schindler was included in the last Black Stars call-up, sitting on the bench in Ghana's 1-0 defeat to Angola and the 1-1 draw against Niger in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. He will hope to make the squad for the important games against Sudan in October.
