Ghana defender Rahman dreams of Afcon call-up

Ghanaian youngster Abdul Baba Rahman is hoping that Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah will give him a call-up during the Afcon 2015 qualifiers.

The 19-year-old left-back was overlooked by Appiah, despite being consistent and helping Greuther Furth to the Bundesliga play-offs.

“I was a bit surprised when I was not considered for the Mundial, but I will continue to work hard and I am hoping to make it to the team for the Afcon 2015 qualifiers,” Raman told Goal Ghana.

“The just ended season, was great, we got the 3rd place but could not overcome Hamburg in the play-offs. I had a teeth operation and had to sit down for some games getting to the end of the season.”

Rahman added: “I am a versatile player who can play in various positions so being assigned a different role in some games by my coach did not affect me. I did exactly what he wanted.”

The former Ghana Under-17 and 20 star is one of the best full backs in the Bundesliga II.
