Ghana fans want Kevin-Prince Boateng back with Black Stars

Kevin-Prince Boateng should be recalled to the Ghana squad despite his past misdemeanours, according to a recent poll conducted by Goal.

In light of the midfielder’s excellent start to the Liga BBVA season with Las Palmas, where he has contributed four goals so far, we asked readers whether the time was right for the Black Stars to recall the 29-year-old.

You responded in your droves, with a whopping 87 percent of respondents insisting that the time was right for Prince to return to the national side.

By contrast, only 13 percent of voters want Prince’s exile to continue, or believe there will never be a time when it’s right for him to return.

The former Schalke 04 and AC Milan man hasn’t been seen since the 2014 World Cup, and specifically the 2-2 draw with Germany, after which he was sent home from the camp and suspended indefinitely after reportedly insulting then-Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah.

Initially, the box-to-box operator’s absence wasn’t missed by a Ghana side that qualified for the 2015 Nations Cup before reaching the final in Equatorial Guinea under Avram Grant.

However, since then, the squad has arguably stagnated, and clearly there is a belief among supporters that Prince’s return could prompt an upturn in fortunes for the West African giants ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations in January.
