Ghana goalkeeper Richard Ofori is set for an imminent move to Caf Champions League winners Mamelodi Sundowns.
This was disclosed to StarrSportsGH’s Michael Asare Boadu by the club’s former Head of Academy, Sudesh Sing, who now serves as the technical director of the South African Football Coaches Association in an exclusive interview.
Ofori has been on trials with the club in a bid to convince the technical handlers he’s cut for first team action.
According to Singh who also served as a chief scout for the ‘Brazilians’, Sundowns’ Coach Pitso Mosimane is looking to bolster his squad by adding the Ghanaian international as they bid to defend their domestic and continental titles.
The addition of Richard Ofori is also a move aimed at providing stiffer competition to first choice goalkeeper Denis Onyango in the on-going season.
“Sundowns is looking at dominating for a foreseeable future. Currently, Pitso has invited Ghanaian goalkeeper Richard Ofori for trials and he sees him as a better competition to Denis Onyango.
“I can confirm that with the little I’ve heard and seen, Richard will be a good addition to the side and very soon he should be a Sundowns player,” Singh revealed to starrspor.
Richard Ofori was adjudged the best goalkeeper in last season’s Ghana Premier League as he steered the boat for a successful title-winning campaign with Wa All Stars.
He was a part of the Black Stars squad for the AFCON 2017 tournament and kept the post in Ghana’s last match at the competition.
