Ghana midfielder Sulley Muntari wants to play for the next seven years

Ghana midfielder Sulley Muntari says he will continue playing competitive football for the next seven years because of his healthy lifestyle.

The 32-year-old, who plays for Italian top-flight club Pescara, says his Islamic upbringing will help his dream.

Muntari abides by the Islamic rule of avoiding alcohol and smoke and thinksi t will help him to continue his career close to his 40th birthday.

"I don't drink and I don't smoke, so I will play another six or seven years and then I will retire completely from football," Muntari said.

The midfielder joined Pescara in January on a free transfer on a six month deal.

Muntari joined the Rossoneri in January 2012 where he made 70 appearances in the Serie A and scored 11 goals.

He began his career in Ghana with Liberty Professionals before leaving for Europe in 2002, and has earned 84 caps with the Black Stars, boasting of 20 goals.

The 32-year-old, who previously represented AC Milan, Inter Milan and Udinese in Serie A as well as Portsmouth in England.

Muntari was without a club since leaving Saudi Arabian side Ittihad Jeddah at the end of the 2015-16 campaign before clinching the move to Pescara.

He last played for Ghana at the 2014 Fifa World Cup in Brazil.
