Solomon Odwo has stated that the Ghana Premier League is comparably better because some clubs failed to beat relegation with 40 points last season.
The top flight league in Ghana has come under much scrutiny, due to the exodus of several players to other African countries to seek greener pastures.
Some sports analysts have also attributed the dwindling fortunes of the local league to mismanagement on the part of the organisers of the league.
However, Solomon Odwo thinks that the league is played on a very competitive basis per what he witnessed in his debut season in the Ghana Premier League last season.
“15 years ago I spent about 4 months with Berekum Chelsea and left. My first season was last season and I must say that the Ghana Premier League is competitive looking at what happened last season when entering into the last day, relegation was starring about 8 clubs right in their faces.
“Even some clubs faced relegation despite securing 40 points by the close of the season. This is a sign that the league is competitive, so I don’t agree with those who say otherwise,” he told Hot FM.
Berekum Chelsea finished the 2014-15 at the 4th position, despite financial difficulties the club went through.
