Ghana's Princesses spank Guinea

Accra, Jan 13, GNA - Ghana's Black Princesses started their campaign on a superb note when they spanked Guinea 4-0 at the Accra Ohene Djan Sports Stadium on Sunday to begin their campaign for the FIFA U-19 World Cup slated for Chile later in the year.

An exemplary display by skipper Diana Ankomah ensured the Princesses majestically rode their opponents in a manner that still makes them favourites for the second leg encounter in Guinea in a fortnight's time. Ankomah grabbed a hat trick with Silla Owusu scoring the other goal to send the Ghanaians cruising in style.

The skipper opened the scores in the 21st minute by completing Owusu's hard work that had started from the right flank. The visitors occasionally threatened but in a mode that could not cancel Ghana's lead.

Owusu against the run of play was on target to strike on the 17th minute mark later when she picked the ball, took an amazing sprint into the opponent's final third before rounding off goalkeeper Kaita Bimtou to consolidate Ghana's lead.

With Guinea struggling to find antidote to Ghana's consistent raid, Ankomah got the third goal from an acute angle when she came face to face with goalkeeper Bimtou on a one-on-one situation with only two minutes left to the recess.

Ankomah registered her third goal in the 73rd minute to finish the business for the Princesses.
