Ghana is planning a bid, to host the 13th edition of the All Africa Games (AAG) in 2023, for the first time in the country’s sporting history.

However, the bid can only be put through after a cabinet approval.

According to GNA Sports sources, the government was keen on hosting the Games to boost sports infrastructure, as well as develop sports in the country, hence the bid expected to be officially approved in the coming days.

“We have never hosted the All African Games and this current government is keen on doing it,” the source told GNA Sports.

“There has been a technical team, that has been put together and I know as a matter of fact, cabinet memo is being prepared for a formal approval to come from cabinet.

“So if cabinet approves it, then a formal bid would be put through so that the Bid Committee would come to Ghana for a visitation and the bid will be awarded to Ghana. So for now we are only waiting for a cabinet approval.”

The All Africa Games is a continental multi-sport event held every four years. It is organised by the Africa Union (AU) with Association of National Committees of Africa (ANOCA) and the Association of African Sports Confederations (AASC).
