Youth and Sports Minister Isaac Asiamah says Ghana is ready to rescue CAF as emergency host for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations but adds the country will not bid for the expanded 24-team tournament.
After inspecting the progress of work at the Youth Resource Center (Koforidua Sports Stadium) in the Eastern Region, Asiamah touted the sporting facilities in the country.
He claims they meet international requirements to host major competitions.
''We handled a wonderful tournament with the Women's AFCON,'' the Member of Parliament for Atwima Mponua told the media.
''Ghana stands a good chance to host any CAF organised tournament. We are ready. Even if CAF says we should host the Cameroon one, we are ever ready.
''Maybe they will say we have become too greedy because we just hosted one, but if the chance comes, I can confidently tell you that Ghana is ready.
''For now, that's not our intention.''
South Africa and Morocco are said to be the front-runners but countries interested have a 14 December, 2018 deadline to meet.
