Ghana08 fever to peak at the right time - Minister

Accra, Jan 10, GNA - Minister of State at the Education Ministry, Miss Elizabeth Ohene believes the Ghana 2008 African Cup of Nations fever will peak at the right time.

She told the GNA Sports in Accra that "when I hear people say there is no hype, I just wonder if we have to start slowly and surprise or raise hopes and go ahead to deliver."

Miss Ohene referred to the slow build up to Ghana's Golden Jubilee Independence anniversary celebration on March 6 that created the necessary excitement at the right time to climax the event in the end. The Minister said "we will have a successful tourney and it is important that we acknowledged early enough that we are in this together. "It is in our interest to do things that will ensure that together, we will feel proud in the end that we delivered a fabulous tourney that will continually sell the name of Ghana far and near".

Miss Ohene said it would be needless for anyone to panic, even though she reckoned all may not be smooth to the end.

"A few things could go wrong; so what? That is natural. The most important thing is not to panic but stay optimistic and collectively put our best foot forward for a great tourney."

Miss Ohene is also keeping faith in the Black Stars to win the tourney to equal Egypt's fifth title.

Ghana makes her fifth attempt at gold when they initiate the three-week soccer event against Guinea at the Ohene Djan Sports Stadium in Accra on Sunday, January 20.
