Football enthusiasts in Ghana have shared their opinions on Manchester United's performance in the 1-0 win over Fulham in their first game of the English Premier League season.
Many fans expressed disappointment with United's performance and urged the technical team to make necessary improvements.
Some also called on coach Erik Ten Hag to make bold decisions, such as benching underperforming players instead of starting them, which they believe negatively impacts the team.
Speaking to GhanaWeb Sports at the launch of the new football season in Accra, several fans shared their views.
"United could have performed better. The gameplay was very slow, especially in the first half when Fulham controlled the game. The second half was more balanced, and the new signing made a difference. Overall, United's performance was poor," one fan commented.
Another fan added, "Today's game was disappointing. Changes are needed. United is trying to return to its glory days, but more effort is required. Bruno Fernandes' position switch was unnecessary; players should play where they fit best. The coach needs to make tough decisions about Rashford, who isn't the player he used to be."
"It seemed like United was still in pre-season mode, but since it's the first game, I believe they will improve as the season progresses," another individual told GhanaWeb Sports.
One fan congratulated United for managing to defeat Fulham at home despite their shaky performance.
"United should have secured the win in the first half. Playing a goalless draw at home puts a lot of pressure on the team in the second half. We didn't expect them to perform well, but they did, so congratulations to them," the fan said.
Manchester United defeated Fulham 1-0 in the Premier League 2024/2025 season opener at Old Trafford on August 16, 2024.
