Ghana’s hopes of landing German-based international Gideon Jung to don the jersey of the Black Stars could be dashed as the all-rounder defender earns a call up into the U21 side of Germany.
U21 coach Stefan Kuntz handed the Ghanaian international a call up following his superb form for Hmaburg SV in the German Bundesliga.
Jung, 21, has already earned call two ups into the U21 side but is yet to kick a ball as he was unused on both occasions he was called.
On 21 August 2015 Gideon Jung was invited by Horst Hrubesch, then coach of the German U21 side for the first time in a test match against Denmark and for the Euro Championship qualifiers against Azerbaijan.
But he could not participate in the game due to a beating on the calf.
A year later, in August 2016, Jung was again invited by current coach Stefan Kuntz, this time for the test match against Slovakia and in the European Championship qualifying match against Finland.
Again he could not participate because of an injury.
But the Ghanaian-born is expected to feature against England and Portugal later this month.
Gideon is however available for the Black Stars as he is yet to play for the senior side of the current world champions.
