Ghanaian rapper, Criss Waddle, has lashed out at the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for not paying tribute to Junior Agogo to mark five years of his passing.

In a social media post, Waddle could not comprehend how Agogo's former club, Nottingham Forest, paid tribute to the player but the GFA could not do the same for their own.

"Exactly a week ago, Nottingham Forest celebrated Junior Agogo on the 5th anniversary of his death and posted him to show appreciation for his services, yet GFA & the official Black Star pages couldn’t show the same Gesture. Kyeres3 black man de3," he wrote on X(formerly Twitter).

Keeping memories of deceased players alive has been the normal practice in football and sports at large.

The Ghana Football Association, since the passing of Agogo, has paid tribute to him annually, including celebrating his birthdays.

Junior Manuel Agogo passed away in London on August 22, 2019, hence, the fifth anniversary will fall on Thursday, August 22, 2024.

Nottingham Forest's post was in celebration of what would have been Agogo's 45th birthday.

Agogo played for the Black Stars between 2006 and 2009. He became a household name after his performance at the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations hosted in Ghana.

He scored 12 goals in 27 caps for the national team.
