Accra, May 22, - Four Ghanaian players of the Glo Soccer Academy who missed the training trip to Manchester United Soccer Schools in April arrived in Dubai on Saturday to commenced training at the prestigious Football Academy of Dubai Sports City.

The players commenced their trainings with focus on attacking and short passing skills after which they were exposed to field work on the use of team work and strategic passing style in match situations. They were later incorporated into the Dubai Football Academy team which played against Baniyas Real Madrid, a youth team from another academy in Dubai city.

The Glo Soccer academy boys who gave a good account of themselves to the admiration of both teams and officials also scored four goals in the 8-0 victory recorded by the Dubai Academy team in the match.

David Abagna who played as the top striker and midfielder, Daniel Abaa both scored two goals while the remaining four goals were scored by the Dubai football academy boys.

The senior coach of Football Academy of Dubai Sports city, Carlos Garcia commended the Glo boys for their outstanding performance in the match; saying that their presence made his team stronger and contributed to the wide victory margin.

He also commended the duo of Aminu Murtala who played at the central defence and Bismark Larbi who manned the left full back.

According to him, ‘’their presence solidified the defence, no wonder we did not concede any goal’’.

The Glo Soccer Academy boys will be exposed to other aspects of training and techniques of modern day football in the coming days.

The Glo Dream Team is made up of sixteen players; (ten Nigerians, four Ghanaians and two Beninoise that emerged at the end of the academy in February, 2013.

Four of the 16 finalists, Aminu Murtala (16), David Abagna (15), Daniel Abaa (16) and Bismarck Larbi (17) were denied British visa in April while their colleagues from Nigeria and Republic of Benin made the trip to Manchester United where they underwent trainings on fundamentals of modern football.

The 16 finalists have been presented with cheques for N1 million Naira each for 15 of them, while the Most Valuable Player, Muri Lawal received N5 million.

The trainings at the prestigious Manchester United training schools and the Football Academy of Dubai Sports City is one of the prizes won by finalists in the maiden edition of the West African Television reality show.

The Glo Soccer Academy was organized to discover and train talented young footballers across West Africa and it was conceived to provide a once-in-a lifetime opportunity for talented footballers to kick-start their career in professional football.
