Ghanaians celebrate with Eagles

Ghanaians in the twin cities of Sekondi and Takoradi lined the streets to celebrate the Super Eagles qualification for the knockout stages of the Africa Cup of Nations.

Nigeria will face the hosts Ghana in Sunday's quarterfinal tie, but Black Stars fans were not bothered as they cheered the Nigerian convoy all the way to their Raybow Hotel lodgings.

The fans waved Nigerian flags and taxi drivers blared their horns, waving the green and white flag of Nigeria.

Taxi driver Solomon Ahen told KickOffNigeria.com that Nigeria was the preferred choice of the ordinary Ghanaian.

"Charley, it is difficult to see Nigeria go out in the first round and me and my family were praying that the Super Eagles would qualify," he said.

Ahen added that it did not matter that the Black Stars would be Nigeria's next opponents.

"Whenever Ghana meets Nigeria, it is a very tough match and it is the team that is better on that day that will win. But I prefer Nigeria to qualify than Mali." Save & Share
