Ghanaians in Europe May 11-14/2001

Two strikes from Ghana midfielder Otto Addo helped Borussia Dortmund thump Unterhaching 4-1 and consolidate third place.
Two 90th-minute goals, Stuttgart's winner over Schalke 04 and Bayern Munich's clincher over Kaiserslautern, left Samuel Kuffuor's side three points clear of second-placed Schalke in the penultimate round of matches in the Bundesliga on Saturday. A draw on the final day of the season for Bayern away to Hamburg would now ensure the Champions' League finalists clinch the title.
Troubled Ghanaian midfielder Ibrahim Tanko at last had some good news as he scored his first goal for Freiburg in their 3-1 win at relegated Bochum in Germany.

Tanko, suspended by former club Borussia Dortmund after testing positive for cannabis, opened the scoring in only his fourth game. Freiburg remain on course for a Uefa Cup place.

Kofi Amponsah's Greek club, PAOK Salonika, won their first trophy in 17 years on Saturday as they beat Olympiakos 4-2 to claim the Greek Cup.

FENERBAHCE BEAT Ezurumspor 2-1 in Ezurum to extend their lead over Istanbul rivals Galatasaray to three points with just two weeks remaining. After Ezurumspor went up 1-0, Fenerbache coach, Mustafa Denizli, made two crucial changes at the start of the second-half. He brought on young striker Serhat and Samuel Johnson, and those changes clearly boosted the team.

There were no such dramatics in Samsun where the Black Sea derby finished 1-1. Defender Kenan Yelek nodded in for Samsunspor on 32 minutes, but Emmanuel Tetteh levelled for Rizespor ten minutes later and that was the way it stayed, despite a thunderbolt injury-time free kick by Ilhan Mansiz which came back off the Rize post.
