Some Ghanaian sports lovers who were present at the Accra Sports Stadium to witness the first Black Stars training session on October 7, 2024, have commended the sporting authorities for undertaking rehabilitation works on the pitch.

Some of them indicated that the new state of the pitch will help the Black Stars players, especially those who play in Europe, to give off their best since they are used to playing on such pitches.

Others also called on the National Sports Authority (NSA) to ensure that the pitch is properly maintained following the renovation to prevent it from deteriorating.

"Now it’s up to the players to determine whether the pitch is good enough for us for the game against Sudan. So I’m hoping that the pitch will be okay, and right now we can see that it can host a category A game. I’m hoping that it will not be after the game, then we’ll have problems with the pitch again," one fan told Benjamin Sackey during an interview with GhanaWeb.

Another individual said, "The pitch being renovated will be a very good help to a player like Inaki Williams since most Ghanaian fans have been talking about bad pitches compared to the ones he plays on in Europe. And I think it would be a very good help to Thomas Partey as well, for the long passes and the carpet grass passes that he loves giving. So it will be a very good help to Ghana."

One fan noted that he hopes the pitch will aid the team to beat Sudan.

"I hope they are going to do well. The pitch has been renovated, so since it has undergone renovation, it means it’s obviously going to help the team. The last game we lost, in a way, could be attributed to the nature of the pitch. But currently, I can see it to be in a better position than the one they played on the last time."

"I don’t even think it’s more about the performance. If they or the pitch. The performance could be bad, the pitch could be good, and you still wouldn’t get any results. So yeah, the pitch will help them if only they are ready to play for Ghana," one fan told GhanaWeb.

Ghana will face Sudan in a doubleheader, with the first leg slated for October 11 and the return leg on October 14, 2024.
