Legon Cities FC goalkeeper Fatau Dauda says Ghanaians were the cause of the Black Stars' disappointing performance at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

Ghana was tipped to leave an indelible mark on the global football fiesta in Brazil following their awesome display four years earlier in South Africa where they reached the quarter final stage.

The West African giants, however, failed to make it past the group stage after drawing 3-3 against Germany and losing their subsequent two matches against USA and Portugal.

The Black Stars were embroiled in controversy after they ended their campaign with 21 players following the sacking of Kevin-Prince Boateng and Sulley Muntari for gross misconduct.

"If you ask me that question, the best answer is that everyone [Ghanaians]. Like I said we all caused it because nothing happened among us [Players]," Dauda said on Atinka TV.

"I didn't see any fight among players, maybe it happened and I didn't see. We never said they should pay us before honouring the final group match [against Portugal]"

"It was a great experience at the FIFA World Cup but we never expect such performance".
