KUMASI Asante Kotoko’s enterprising left back, Gideon Baah, is set to leave the shores of Ghana for Scotland, UK, as he enters the next phase of his rehabilitation after the career-threatening injury he sustained during an epic clash with Accra Hearts of Oak last season.
The trip, which is being sponsored by the management of Kumasi Asante Kotoko with the assistance of UK based football consortium, TBD (The Black Doll) Management, would see the 19-yr-old fledging left-back undergo physiotherapy sessions with Heart of Midlothian Football Club for a period of 3 weeks. Gideon, who would not be on trials (as had been rumoured) with the Edinburgh outfit but for a medical review, is expected to leave the country on Friday the 26th.
Speaking from her base in Scotland last night, Eby Emenike of TBD Management, who doubles as the player’s agent and publicist, says, Baah’s recovery is well on course. “All Gideon wants to do at the moment is to get fit and get back onto the playing field to help Kotoko at this difficult moment in the club’s history,” she told 90 MINUTES.
“But there is no rush and his fans need to get behind him and offer as much support as they can to enable him get back to full fitness. There have been unfounded reports as to when he is due back, but his return date hasn’t yet been discussed. All the rumours just put unnecessary pressure on the boy. For now, our main focus is on getting him through rehab.”
Regarding interest from other clubs, Eby says Gideon still has a contract with Kotoko and as and when any offer arrives, it will be dealt with through the right channels.
