Glo Soccer Academy begins in Kumasi Monday

The Paa Joe Stadium located
on the KNUST campus in Kumasi is the venue on Monday as screening for candidates
for the new Glo Soccer Academy begins. Billed to be West Africa's biggest soccer
reality television show, screening will take place in eight other venues across
Ghana, Nigeria and the Republic of Benin in the search for 33 players aged between
14 to 17 years for a one-month
camping at the Academy in Lagos under the training of celebrity coaches from
West Africa and English Premier league giants Manchester United.
A massive total of 16 finalists
would then be selected for a training tour of the Manchester United Soccer Schools
in addition to winning scholarships and other lucrative rewards.The most valuable
player (the MVP) is also assured a mammoth sixty thousand Ghana Cedis (GH¢60,000)
with the
other 15 finalists assured twelve thousand Ghana Cedis (GH¢12,000) each.
To register in Ghana, prospective candidates for screening are expected
to load GH¢30 credits on their Glo line and text their name, age, and preferred
screening
location to 3836. From Kumasi, the screening goes next to Tamale Sports
Stadium in the Northern Regional capital on 12 and 13 October before concluding
in Ghana on Wednesday 17th and Thursday 18th October at the Lizzy Sport
Complex in East Legon, Accra.Screening shifts to Nigeria from 23 October to 11
November in Benin City, Enugu, Port Harcourt, Abuja and Lagos before concluding
in Benin on November 14.
