Accra, June 26, GNA - Prince Ernest Oduro-Mensah, Chief Executive Officer of the National Sports Council says no farewell gesture for President John Agyekum Kufuor could surpass the one planned for the Ohene Djan Stadium, Accra on Tuesday.

Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Kpando Heart of Lions go into action on Republic Day Tuesday, July 1 for the annual Presidential Cup with Prince Oduro-Mensah believing the duel will provide a befitting farewell for the departing President.

The competition initiated to honour sitting heads of state would be the last for the President whose tenure of office ends on January 2009. This year's event which has communication giants, MTN as the headline sponsors is also supported by Smart Energy Drink. Launching the event at a brief ceremony on Thursday, the Chief Executive said he envisages a splendid performance that would also be incident-free.
