Owner of Kumasi King Faisal Alhaji Karim Grunsah has thrown a subtle jab at Asante Kotoko and Ashantigold SC.
The outspoken football administrator on Kumasi FM during an interview warned the Ashanti Region-based clubs about their supposed participation in the inter-club competition organised by CAF after the Ghana FA cancelled the 2019 – 20 season due to the outbreak of the novel Coronavirus pandemic.
“Allow them to go and disgrace themselves. They represented the country during the era of the Normalization committee but brought nothing better but shame to the country because of their shambolic performances”, he stated.
The experienced football administrator acknowledged the fact that no one can prevent the Porcupines and the Miners from partaking in the next edition of the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup but warned the clubs to be very vigilant because some management members will use the chance to dupe the club.
“No one can seize them from participating once they have their money but they should be mindful especially with their gate proceeds, some management members capitalize on that to dupe the club”, he advised.
He retorted that, though he disagrees with the clubs intention to participate in Africa Club Competition this term, he also believes it would be better to give it a shot since CAF have slots for Ghanaian clubs in the tournament.
“Nonetheless, I think we cannot waste our slot hence they can keep on trying. It may be better for them someday”, he concluded.
