Accra, June 22, GNA - Gold Fields Ghana Limited, headline sponsors of the Ghana Black Stars has saluted the team on their victory over Sudan in Omdurman last Sunday.
The Stars moved closer to qualification for the first ever World Cup to be staged on African soil with a 2-0 victory over the Desert Hawks and remain at the top with nine points from three games. Dr Toni Aubynn, Corporate Affairs Director of Gold Fields Ghana Limited told GNA Sports "with three wins under their belt, the Black Stars are now odds on favourite to 'Live the Dream' of playing in the first FIFA World Cup to be staged on African soil, the South Africa 2010."
"Having achieved such a remarkable result away from home, it is the firm belief of most Ghanaians and indeed of Gold Fields that Ghana is now firmly on course to achieving a second successive World Cup appearance.
Peter Turner, Vice President of Gold Fields West Africa affirmed his outfits support for the team. "As sponsors, we pledge our continued support in this quest to relive the experiences of playing on the grandest stage of world football."
The Vice President a fortnight ago led a 15-man delegation from Gold Fields, including management members and staff to support the Black Stars when they defeated Mali in Bamako. Ghana will now host Mali and Sudan before playing Benin to wrap up qualification to the Mundial.
