Deputy youth and Sports Minister and Golden Boy Abdul Razak Arrive in the Upper East Region to launch the Awaambe Sports Academy in Sandema.
1978 African footballer of the Year and former Assistant coach of the Black Stars, Golden boy Abdul Razak has arrived in Sandema to help in the launch of the Awaambe Sports Academy this afternoon.
The multi-purpose Project which is the brain of the Chief Executive Officer of Kumasi-based Sports Consortium, Authentic Sports and President of Bukarson Concepts, Mr. Listowell Yesu Bukarson will be named after his father, the late RSM Bukari Kanjaga Awaambe.
Mr. Bukarson, former Public and Supporters Relations Manager and Marketing Manager of Kumasi Asante Kotoko Sporting Club Limited, says, the Awaambe Sports Academy is his contribution to sports development in the three Northern Regions of Ghana specifically and Ghana at large.
The Deputy Youth and Sports Minister, Hon Joseph Yamine also arrived in Bolgatanga yester night to launch the project.
A total of 16 teams from both the Bulsa South and North Districts participate in a two-day, justifier to select a total of 25 players.
“These core 25 players will form the nucleus of the Awaambe Sports Academy, they will then embark on a series of friendly matches across the country to select and purchase players to form the standing Academy team which will be based in the Bulsa North District capital of Sandema.” Mr. Bukarson explains.
There will also be other sporting disciplines, such as athletics, Boxing, Volleyball, and basketball.
The Sandema mini-stadium will be the Awaambe Sports Academy Village. Its colors are the traditional Bulsa colors of Red, White and black. Its logo is the warrior symbol of the Viking to symbolize the defeat of the forefathers of the area of the Samori and Babatu, which victory is celebrated every December with the Feok Festival War dance.
The Academy has already received massive Support from leading foam manufactures in Ghana, Latex Foam Rubber Products Limited who are prepared to be a part of the enviable history of being a part of the first fully Ghanaian owned Sports Academy in the three Northern Regions of Ghana.
The Paramount Chief of the Bulsa Traditional Council, Nab Azaagsuk Azantilow II, all his sub chiefs, the Member of parliament and Deputy Interior, Minister, James Agalga, Deputy Upper East Regional Minister, Daniel Sym, District Chief Executive for Bulsa North, Hon. Bonaventure Adangabe, DCE for Bulsa South, Hon. Afiuc Elizabeth Jane, and a host of prominent individuals will grace this memorable event.
Coach Abdul Razak and Listowell Yesu Bukarson yesterday paid a courtesy call on the Paramount Chief of the Bulsa Traditional Area at his palace.
