Golf’s Ecobank Cup 2012 at Achimota this Saturday

This year’s Ecobank Golf Cup tournament sponsored by banking giants Ecobank Ghana Ltd tees off at the Achimota Golf course this Saturday January 28 with mouthwatering prizes and fun and excitement galore spicing up the show.

Over 150 golfers are expected to throng the nation’s premier golf club this weekend for the tournament that is open to amateur and professional golfers of Achimota, Tema, Celebrity and Bok Nam Kim Golf Clubs as well as invited guests of Ecobank only.

Entry fee for both amateurs and pros is GH¢20 with qualification to play limited to men amateurs with handicap 18 and below but handicap 24 may play to 16 whilst ladies’ amateurs with handicap 27 and below qualified but handicap 30 may play to 27.

The Ecobank sponsors are putting up loads of rewards with the top 7 in the men division up for prizes. 1st to 5th in the ladies category will also be rewarded, 9 holes players will also have two prizes for men and ladies whilst only the 1st position in the youth competition will receive a prize.

The professionals, who begin their competition on Wednesday January 25, will be rewarded with cash and other items up to the 12th position. Also on offer are prizes for longest drive on hole 17 and nearest to the pin on hole 18 for both male and female divisions.

Among the rich list of pros registered to compete include serial winner Emos Korblah nicknamed Landlord, Anthony Gbenyor, Godwin Sai, T.K. Gouvinous, Frank Amartey Sorgbordjor, D. K. Degbe among others in what is expected to be another keen competition at the Achimota Golf Club.
