Former Black Stars captain C.K. Akunnor believes sound preparation and quality monitoring of the Group G opponents can help Ghana to qualify from the so called Group of death.
The Black Stars must negotiate for good results against USA, Germany and Portugal in order to progress from Group G and make a third straight second round appearance.
Speaking to XYZ Sports after Friday’s draw the former Accra Hearts of Oak Coach says Ghana’s preparation must start right away.
“We must start our preparation now, look at the weakness and strengths of our opponents and start believing in ourselves,” C.K. told XYZ Sports.
“We must go into the competition with a winning mindset,” he continued.
"The second round qualification must be a major priority and that should start right away. Our preparation for the 2010 championship was quite okay and that is why we performed like that but this time around we need to step up our game a bit”.
“The monitoring team must start working now; we must start chasing the opponents in their own yard. I am sure they (Germany, Portugal and USA) will play African teams as part of their preparation and all must be taken into consideration as we fight to catch up with them.
“I believe in this team and I know that good monitoring and sound preparation will be one of our Arsenals at the World Cup”.
