Former Black Stars coach, Ratomir Dujkovic says his compatriot, Goran Stevanovic will be under a lot of pressure due to the standards set by previous coaches.

The 44 year-old Serbian will be unveiled by the Ghana Football Association on Wednesday January 12 as Milovan Rajevac’s successor.

He becomes the third Serbian to take charge of the Black Stars in the last six years. Dujkovic, who is the first Serbian to have handled the Black Stars, qualified Ghana for the first time to the 2006 World Cup and led the team to the round of 16 stage, the best performance by an African side at the tournament.

Milovan Rajevac also left with a lot of achievements after leading Ghana to the CHAN final, 2010 African Cup of Nations final and the quarter final stage of the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.

Stevanovic’s first major assignment will be to qualify Ghana to the 2012 African Cup of Nations as well as the 2013 edition. If he stays beyond his first two years, he will be tasked to lead Ghana to the World Cup in Brazil in 2014.

However, Speaking to Citi Sports on Tuesday January 11, former Black Stars coach Ratomir Dujkovic said Goran Stevanovic must brace himself for pressure since he will be seeking to maintain the standards set by his predecessors.

“The problem will be getting the same level that Rajevac had in Africa and in the world. It would be very difficult for Goran to make same or even better. But I believe that he has the capacity to do a good job with the Black Stars”.

“He will be under pressure because at the moment any coach who wants to handle the Black Stars would be under pressure to deliver. Ghanaians are very ambitious people…first of all he must win the next African Cup of Nations and then he will move on from there”.
