Govt To Sponsor 500 supporters to Brazil

Ghana government decides against sponsoring supporters to Brazil for the 2014 World Cup Ghana government decides to sponsor 500 supporters to Brazil for the 2014 World Cup Ghana’s Sports Minister Elvis Afriyie Ankrah has brief the press on the government readiness to airlift 500 fans to Brazil to support the Black Stars at the 2014 World Cup.

The minister told the media on his return to Accra from Brazil that the government has secured the assistance of private corporate bodies to assist in sponsoring Ghanaians to support the national team at the World Cup.

According to the minister, Government has now decided not to use public funds on this project which has proved very costly to the Ghanaian tax payer in recent years for June’s World Cup in Brazil.

The state has secured funding from corporate sponsorship to transport ‘a few recognized supporters’ of up to 500 supporters to Brazil to offer morale to the Black Stars. The supporters will be airlifted from the 13 , 14 , and 15 June 2014 to Brazil in badges

The minister also cautioned that all supporters for Brazil will undergo compulsory security profiling to ensure that Ghana do not have security issues with their Brazilian counterparts, and also hinted that accreditation tags will be provided for all supporters.
