Ho, Dec. 19, GNA - Government is committed to the construction of modern stadiums in all Regions to develop sports in the country, Mr Kofi Dzamesi, Volta Regional Minister said in Ho on Tuesday. He said when interacting with journalists at a soiree organized for media personnel drawn from the private and public sectors of the Ho Municipality. Mr Dzamesi said for the Volta Region, the onus now lies on the Coordinating Council to find a 1.61-kilometer land for the project. He said the old stadium would be renovated to host school games and matches of lower division clubs.
The Journalists expressed concern about the inability of Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) Television to telecast the up-coming CAN 2008 tournament effectively.
They said their fears were based on erratic transmission pattern being experienced in the Region and called for measures to rectify the situation before the commencement of the event.
