Grant among growing list rejecting Swansea City job

Ghana coach Avram Grant is among the growing list of coaches rejecting the chance to coach English Premier League side Swansea City.

About six high-profile coaches have been linked with the Swans job since Garry Monk was fired last week.

Grant, the former Chelsea, Portsmouth and West Ham boss, was among the first coaches to be linked with the job when it became vacant.

But Grant's agent, Saif Rubie, played down the report insisting the Israeli manager wants to concentrate on the Ghana job.

Rubie tweeted: "On the record just to say as Avram Grant's agent that he is happy as the coach of @ghanafaofficial Blackstars. @SwansOfficial not in touch."

Since then several coaches linked to the job have steered clear insisting they are simply not interested in coaching the Swans.

The former Swansea and Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers was at the top of the list of those to take over, but he also opted out.

Former Chelsea player and coach Di Matteo, 45, also said he does not want to be considered for the vacant post.

Ex-Sunderland boss Gus Poyet, former Manchester United manager David Moyes and Nigel Pearson formerly of Leicester City were tipped as possible contenders but have all ruled themselves out.

Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins now has the hard task of getting a coach for the side even though they exhibited some verve in their match against Manchester City over the weekend.
