Grant wants more after a year in charge

Ghana boss Avram Grant has declared himself satisfied after a year in charge of the Black Stars but says there is a lot more to be achieved.

The Israeli will clock one year in charge of the Black Stars next month and has steered the side to the Nations Cup finals and on course for a place at the world cup in 2018 after a 2-0 win over Comoros in Kumasi on Tuesday.

“It has been good so far but there is still so much to be done”, he said. “We want to qualify for the world cup and today was a good step towards that.”

Grant watched the Black Stars labour over two legs and reckons credit for that must go to Comoros. “First of all we must say all credit to Comoros. They played well, fought well, defended well and were well organised.”

Grant will now await the draw for the next stage of the world cup qualifiers and is confident the side can build on recent gains and qualify regardless of the opposition. “It is a big ambition for this team. We did well in the African Cup and are hoping to do well in this one too. Our target is to qualify for the world cup again.”
