Great Olympics to float shares

Former Premier League side Accra Great Olympics are set to follow in the footsteps of city rivals Hearts of Oak by floating shares and listing on the Ghana stock exchange.

This big revelation was made by outgoing Board chairman of Accra Great Olympics Amarkai Amerteifio.

“I was given a mandate and I feel I have done my part. Very soon Great Olympics will float shares which will insulate the club from personalities who have been using their personal capital in the running of the club. By floating shares Olympics will also be free from the perennial problems that have bedeviled the club,” he added.

Accra Great Olympics have had their fair share of highs and lows but their relegation from the top flight of Ghana football for the last three seasons is a bitter pill for supporters of the club.

Internal wrangling and poor management have often been cited as the root cause of the dwindling fortunes of the club which was once upon a time a force to reckon with in Ghana football.

Amarkai Amerteifio, who has sometimes been fingered by supporters of the club as one of the detractors of the club, says he hopes his departure will open a new and fresh chapter in the history of the club.

“I know some of the supporters have not been happy and I have also been at the receiving end of a lot of vilification but I am not new to that. I am not new to intemperate language but now I am leaving. I came to serve but now I am not able to continue,” the outgoing Board chairman said.
