Greater Accra Peugeot Golf tees off at Tema

Tema, May 16, GNA - The Greater Accra Regional qualifying series of this year's Peugeot Challenge Open Golf Championship tees off at the Tema Country Golf Course on Saturday, June 25. Mr Ebenezer Adablanu, Chief Executive Officer of the Club who announced this at Tema on Monday said a total of 40 golfers would be selected from the Men, Ladies and the Juniors' categories to join other qualifiers from the regions to play in the finals in Accra on July 2. The eventual winners in the Men and Ladies categories would represent Ghana in the World Peugeot Challenge scheduled for France in August this year.

Mr Adablanu said more than 100 amateur golfers are expected to participate in the competition to be sponsored by Prestige Motor Company Limited (PMC). He said the One Day 18-Hole Medal Play which has Handicap 18 and above as the entry requirements, would be played under the rules of the St. Andrews Golf Club of Scotland and the local rules of the Tema Golf Club.

Kwaku Okyere of Tema Golf and Mona Captan of the Achimota Golf Club who represented Ghana in 2003 but failed to win the ultimate had declared their intention to recapture the trophy and represent Ghana this year and bring the ultimate to Ghana.
