Greatness" Beckons Black Stars

Ghana's number international events promoter Dennis Tawiah has predicted that the current Black Stars of Ghana will be the best side in the history of Ghana football.

"I have been following this team for years and i believe the best is not far from coming" He told me at the Renaisance Hotel here in London. He reckons new coach Leroy will give ALL potential Black Stars players the chance to justify their inclusion so that the best "army" is assembled for CAN 2008 and beyond.

The man behind Miss Ghana UK Pageant, Akwaaba, Ghana Independence UK and front man for Meet Me There UK, just to list a few, believes IF hard work, discipline and unity continues to be garnered by the team officials and management, there will be no stopping the rise of the team. "I see no reason why we should not get better and better with each game" He admitted that the Australia game was not vintage Black Stars but noted " we did not have our regular pillars in defence hence the pressure the young boys came under"

Mr Tawiah also praised the media for their efforts in boosting and raising the profile of the team and individual players but cautined against uneccessary praise, bootlicking and sycophancy. "Let me be honest with you,i have really been impressed with the work the Ghanaian media is putting into the PR of the team, it should be without looking for rewards because if the team does well......we all know it is good for the media" Dennis Tawiah added that there has to be unity even when there is competition in the media it should be professional and civil.

Popularly known as Radical 'D' the former DJ and semi professional footballer could have been a hit with Arsenal over a decade ago but his trials did not go as planned and a series of injuries forced him to concentrate on the lucrative promotions circuit.

Today he acts as a big brother to a number of the players in the team, which brought me to the question of so called "call calls being sent to "fix up" some players".

Well i have only just heard about this and i can assure you that we will do all we can to protect our players from negative and dangerous influences"

Without mentioning names, Dennis Tawiah assured me that " the names in question have been alerted and they know how to carry themselves"

Dennis whose father was one time chairman of Hearts Of Oak, ended by saying that "Anyone or group of persons who tries to bring this team down will regret it dearly....but at the same time our boys have to know that they are ambassadors and should not engage in practices that would bring shame or dishonour to themselves, the country, their clubs or families".
