Gruzah: Gov't should intervene on behalf of Dede Ayew

Renowned Football administrator and owner of Ghana Premier League side King Fiasal, Alhaji Karim Gruzah is calling on the government of Ghana to intervene on the exclusion of midfielder Andre Dede Ayew from the Black Stars squad ahead of AFCON 2013 in South Africa.

Dede Ayew was excluded following his inability to join the Black Stars squad by Monday morning in Abu Dhabi for Ghana's team doctors to assess the extent of his injury and fitness for the tournament.

All the players were given the deadline of Saturday to report to camp in Abu Dhabi but unfortunately Andre did not turn up despite being released by his club and air tickets provided by the GFA for him to travel from France to beat the deadline.

“It is not late to include Dede in the team because the boy has been loyal to the team and if the boy is not sick he will willingly come to camp. This is the first time this thing is happening to him. This has happened in so many countries and so I think the government must interfere. Football without interference is no football,” he told JOY Sports.

The Black Stars are currently training in the Gulf region for 11 days before departing to South Africa for the tournament which starts from January 19 to February 10.

Meanwhile ,Ghana’s final 23-man squad for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations will be announced on Wednesday at 17:00 GMT.
