Gun-pulling Dr. Sarpong handed temporary football ban

Asante Kotoko Policy Analyst Dr. Amo Sarpong has been handed a temporary football ban by the Ghana FA Normalization Committee following an alleged violent conduct before the clash between Berekum Chelsea and Kotoko at the Golden City Park.

Dr. Sarpong, an official of Asante Kotoko fired five warning shots ahead of the game after irate fans of Berekum Chelsea attempted attacking Operations Manager of Kotoko, Perusha.

According to eye witnesses, Dr. Sarpong swiftly dashed into his car, pulled out a pistol and fired the warning shots with a stray bullet reportedly hitting one of the fans.

Moments after the police had scooped the gun from the Kotoko official, the vociferous fans and brutalized him physically, leaving him and other fans with various injuries.

The Normalization Committee has slapped Berekum Chelsea with a ban that prevents them from playing their home games at the Golden City Park.

Dr. Sarpong, in a statement by the FA, has also been slapped with a temporal ban from all football related activities as the Disciplinary Committee of the FA conducts further investigations into the matter.

The temporal ban is as a result of the warning shots fired.

Dr. Sarpong will be giving a hearing by the DC before a final decision is passed on the matter.
