Gyan could be available for Mali's encounter

Franceville, Jan. 27, GNA - Ghana's quest for gold at the African Cup of Nations has received a major boost following striker Asamoah Gyan's return to training.

Gyan could be available for selection when Ghana lines up against Mali in a second Group D duel on Saturday after joining his colleagues at training on Friday evening.

The striker limped off at training on Thursday with what was suspected to be an ankle strain he aggravated having picked a knock in Ghana's opening game with Botswana on Tuesday.

The player's return at training is expected to boast coach Goran Stevanovic's attacking line as he seeks to pick all points at the expense of Mali in a game that could mean progress to the quarter final stage of the continental gathering.

Gyan won his race against time to start the game against Bostwana after undergoing a placenta treatment following a second degree hamstring that was expected to sideline him for three weeks.

He remains Ghana's leading scorer currently with a rich spell of an average of a goal each in every two games.
