The disappointment of not exceeding expectations at the just ended 2013 AFCON seems to be weighing on Asamoah Gyan as Ghana’s top striker looks to have lost his red-hot scoring form of last year.
For the second consecutive game, Black Stars captain and Al Ain striker, Asamoah Gyan, failed to score in Al Ain’s Pro League game.
In the game played on Thursday evening in their home stadium, Tahnoun Bin Mohamed Stadium, Al Ain lost 1-0 to lowly placed Dibba Al Fujairah. Dibba, where another Ghanaian in Samuel Ocran plays, are 13th in the 14-team Pro League competition.
Before the AFCON tournament, Gyan had scored 21 league goals, scoring in 16 consecutive Pro-League games.
Last season Gyan finished as the top scorer in the league with 22 goals – a performance that helped Al Ain to a record tenth title and their first league triumph in eight seasons.
Despite the embarrassing loss, Al Ain are still on top of the Etisalat Pro-League table with 40 points, six points ahead of second-placed team, Al Jazira who have 34 points.
