Gyan fired up for Afcon campaign

Asamoah Gyan has given Ghana a major boost ahead of the 2012 Nations Cup by declaring he is in great spirits and ready to bang in the goals as the Black Stars seek glory.

Gyan has an excellent goal scoring record for Ghana having scored in every competition he has played in with the Black Stars in his international career.

The Al-Ain striker scored Ghana's opening goal of the World Cup in 2006 against Czech Republic, scored the opening goal from the spot against Guinea at the 2008 Nations Cup and struck the consolation from the penalty spot as Ghana lost the first game of the 2010 Nations Cup against Ivory Coast.

He went on to score two more goals in the same tournament, a feat that was replicated months later at the 2010 World Cup.

Gyan's fine goal scoring form has continued at Al Ain where he is on five goals so far after his brace from the weekend. And he is delighted to be finding the back of the net so close to the Nations Cup in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea next year.

"I'm feeling good right now getting myself in form and keeping my fitness level up. It is important not only for my team Al Ain but its also preparing me for the AFCON where I am hopeful of scoring goals for my country," Gyan told KickOffGhana.com.

Gyan will launch his foundation in Accra on January 2 before travelling with the Black Stars for their pre-Nations Cup camping in Rustenburg South Africa.
