Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan has told Black Stars players seeking to take over the armband that they must wait for their turn otherwise their reign will be filled with disaster.

The China-based striker fired the spiritual warning in the wake of reports that there are moves withing the Black Stars to oust him as captain.

A local radio station reported on Wednesday that Andre Ayew was on the verge of being named the substantive captain of the side ahead of the 2018 World Cup qualifiers.

Ayew slammed the report on Wednesday when he reiterated his support for the China-based attacker insisting that Gyan is grooming him to take over when he leaves the scene.

However the rumours have persisted as in the last six months, Gyan has not been consistent for the national team following his reoccurring injuries.

In his absence, Ayew has led the team with many stating that the Swansea City Star should be made the captain with Gyan as the general captain.

Gyan says players of the senior national team wishing to be appointed as his successor should wait until his reign is over.

‘’I was called to captain Ghana when it was my turn so people should wait when my reign is over," Gyan told Happy FM.

"If God never call you and you wear a crown on your head, it will be fruitless and won’t be a blessing from God.’’

Ayew is the assistant captain with Emmanuel Agyemang Badu and Jonathan Mensah the other leading players in the Black Stars.

The management of the team as well as coach Avrma Grant have not revealed any plans of changing the captain of the Black Stars.
