Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan will have to do away with his favourite no.3 jersey when he completes his move to Shanghai SIPG at least until the end of the season.
The Black Stars captain will be unveiled as the new signing for the ambitious Chinese club on Friday having passed a medical.

Gyan will, however, been unable to choose his favourite no.3 shirt as it is already being used at Shanghai SIPG by Korean defender Kim Ju-Young.

His alternative no.33 jersey is also occupied by Yang Boyu – meaning the Ghana striker will have to make do with an entirely different jersey number he is usually accustomed to.

Gyan had donned the no.3 jersey throughout his professional career both at club and international level.

It was only during his time at Stade Rennes and his debut season at Sunderland that Asamoah Gyan was forced to relinquish his favourite jersey number as it was already being used by an existing player.

He will however need to make do with such a major change in his mega move to Shanghai SIPG at least until the end of the season.

The new jersey number for the former Udinese man could be revealed at his official unveiling on Friday.
