Gyan is Ghana’s most influential sports personality

Black Stars skipper and talisman, Asamoah Gyan has emerged as Ghana’s Most Influential Sports Personality for 2015.

Swansea City’s linchpin and deputy skipper of the Black Stars, Andre Ayew comes second after the list of 100 Most Influential Ghanaians was released on e.TV Ghana on State of the Nation.

Gyan, 30, came out as the 44th Most Influential Ghanaian overall while Andre, 26, snatched the 49th Most Influential Ghanaian accolade.

Other sports personalities who made the cut in Ghana’s 100 Most Influential Personalities include president of the Ghana Football Association and chairman of WAFU Zone ‘B’, Kwesi Nyantakyi, who took the 3rd Most Influential Sports Personality and 64th overall and legendary ex-captain of the Black Stars, Stephen Appiah who place 4th and 74th overall.

World boxing icon and Hall of Famer, Azumah Nelson came out as the 5th Most Influential Sports Personality and 79th overall while the three-time African Football of the Year, Abedi Ayew Pele took the 6th spot while being the 82nd Most Influential Ghanaian for 2015, completing the list of sports personalities who made it into the 100 Most Influential Ghanaians.

The Ghana’s Most Influential Awards is aimed at recognizing and celebrating the top 100 Most Influential Ghanaian personalities as voted by the general public. They consist of individuals whose works have positively impacted society and their community. After publib nominations were opened in November, the lists was compiled and the review process started. Public nominations were scored 40% and the GMI Committee consisting of editors, producers, and representatives of audit firm PKF & Associates scored 60% of the total. Nominees were rated on 5 key metrics and the results were collated and analyzed with the assistance of PKF & Associates. They partnered with e.TV Ghana to authenticate the voting and weighting process. The various personalities will be awarded at the June 30 ceremony in Accra.
