Rustenbeurg, June 20, GNA - Striker Asamoah Gyan is Ghana's top scorer ever in the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) World Cup, as he is credited with three goals.
A statistics released by FIFA said Gyan's has scored in each of the two games played by Ghana so far in the competition. The striker now has a record of three goals in the FIFA World Cup, having scored one against the Czech Republic in the last tournament in 2006. Gyan fetched Ghana's only goal in the game against Serbia, and scored the equalizer against Australia last Saturday, making him the best player in the current squad of the Black Stars.
In addition, Gyan won his second award in the 2010 World Cup, as he emerged Player of the Match in the game against Australia with 6.5 out of ten points according to checks conducted by the Ghana News Agency (GNA) Sports to win the enviable prize.
Gyan won the same award, when the Stars played Serbia in the opening group D match.
The 24 year old striker is obviously having a great world cup and has indicated that he is looking forward to more successes in the subsequent games.
Gyan said, though the team was disappointed with the one all draw game with Australia, they were looking forward to victory in the next game against Germany.
He, however, conceded that it would be a difficult task but stated that the Stars would do what it takes to advance to the next stage of the competition.
