Stylish boxer Emmanuel Tagoe, after a steamy training session at the Seconds Out Gym in Accra last Wednesday, told the media to expect Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan in his corner on Boxing Day.
Nicknamed ‘Game Boy’, Tagoe demonstrated dexterity in his close-to-an-hour workout and promised to give his best shot in his WBA Inter-Continental title bout.
He revealed that Gyan, under whose promotion – Baby Jet Promotions- he fights, will be in his corner on December 26, when he takes on Tanzanian opponent Sidicki Momba at the Accra Stadium.
“Many of you don’t have the slightest idea about how deep Baby Jet is when it comes to boxing. He loves the sport, he attempted being a boxer but he decided to use the legs rather than his hands.
“I will be coming up with a new technique and approach; that is why I want everybody at the stadium on that evening. You don’t need to be told what will unfold, come and see for yourself. Gyan, together with my coach ‘Akese’, will be in my corner to issue out instructions.
“I don’t waste time studying my opponent’s fights. With this one in particular, my coach is doing the monitoring for me, but I will determine how the fight will go when I mount the ring,” Tagoe said.
And responding to whether his long absence from the ring will not have a negative effect on him in the forthcoming bout, he said, “Certainly not. It will not affect me. I am wilder for this fight than ever. As you can see, I am ready to deliver yet another good show.”
